Talent Referral Program – FAQ

General Program Information

What is a referral?

A referral is recommending someone you personally know and believe would be a strong fit for Abstra – in skills, attitude, and values.

Who can participate?

Abstra team members are eligible to participate as Referrers, except for HR & Talent recruitment positions.
Any other exceptions will be communicated by Abstra.

Which roles are eligible for referrals?

The roles eligible for referrals are those listed on https://abstra.bamboohr.com/careers and whose job opening submission form includes the question/field: “Who referred you to this position?”.

How do I refer someone?

There are two main actions:

  1. You submit the Referral Program Form with your candidate’s details and the link to the job posting from https://abstra.bamboohr.com/careers
  2. Your candidate applies through the job opening submission form and includes your name in the field “Who referred you to this position?”

Referral Requirements & Process

What steps must be completed for a referral to be valid?

There are two mandatory steps, and both must happen within 7 days:

  1. Referral Program Form: You complete and submit the Internal Referral Form with all requested information and the link to the job opening that is Referral-Eligible.
  2. Candidate’s application: Your candidate applies to the role via the job opening submission form and writes your name in the field “Who referred you to this position?”

If one of these steps is missing or late, the referral is not valid.

What happens if one of the steps is missing?

The referral becomes invalid and does not qualify for the award.

What if the candidate forgets to mention me in the application?

If the candidate does not include your name in the field “Who referred you to this position?”, the referral does not count, even if you submitted the Internal Referral Form.

Who cannot be referred?

Candidates are not eligible as referrals if they:

  • Applied or interviewed for any Abstra role in the last 6 months.
  • Were previously referred to Abstra in the last 6 months.
  • Are already in an active hiring process with Abstra when you submit the referral.
  • Do not complete their application through the job opening submission form.
  • Do not list the Referrer’s name in the field “Who referred you to this position?”
Can I submit multiple referrals?

Yes. You can refer more than one candidate, as long as each referral follows the process and eligibility rules.

That said, the Program is based on quality over quantity: we encourage thoughtful, genuine referrals of people you truly know and trust.

Can two employees refer the same candidate?

If more than one employee refers the same candidate, the referral will be attributed to the Referrer who:

  • Submitted the Internal Referral Form first and
  • Is named by the candidate in the field “Who referred you to this position?”

Abstra will make the final determination based on available records.

What happens if the candidate joins a different role than the one I referred them for?

Your referral can still count if:

  • The hire occurs within 180 days of the Referral Date, and
  • The role they are ultimately hired into is a Referral-Eligible Role (its submission form includes the field “Who referred you to this position?”) at the time of hire.
How long is my referral valid?

Referrals are valid for 180 days (6 months) from the Referral Date, as long as both steps (Internal Referral Form + candidate application naming you in “Who referred you to this position?”) were completed within the required 7-day window.

What happens if I don’t see the field “Who referred you to this position?” in the application form?

If the job opening submission form does not include the field “Who referred you to this position?”, that role is not included in the Internal Talent Referral Program and referrals for that position will not be eligible for the award.

Abstra reserves the right to add or remove roles from the Program at any time.

Awards & Payments

What is the award?

The award is USD 500 per successful hire that meets all the Program conditions.

When do I get paid?

You will receive the award within 45 days after your referral completes 90 days of employment in good standing at Abstra.

Payment will be made through standard payroll or another method defined by Abstra.

Do taxes apply to the award?
Yes. Abstra may withhold taxes or other statutory deductions from the award, as required by applicable law.
What does “good standing” mean?
“Good standing” means that during the first 90 days:

  • There are no significant performance concerns,
  • No client has requested removal of the person from their team, and
  • There has been no internal request to terminate employment.

No client has requested removal of the person from their team, and

There has been no internal request to terminate employment.

Status & Communication

How will I know the status of my referral?

You will be notified by the Talent team when:

  • Your referee is hired, or
  • Clarification is needed regarding your referral.

For privacy and compliance reasons, we cannot share full details of the recruitment process (interview steps, feedback, etc.).

Can I follow up directly with Talent on my referral?

Please avoid sending direct follow-ups to Talent regarding process status, unless they reach out to you asking for clarification.

If you have general questions about the Program itself (rules, eligibility, etc.), you can contact the program’s mailbox.

Can a referral be transferred to another employee?

No.
The referral always belongs to the employee who submitted the Internal Referral Form and who is named by the candidate in the field “Who referred you to this position?”.

Is the Program the same for every role?

No. The Program only applies to Referral-Eligible Roles, which may change over time.

Abstra may add or remove roles from the referral-eligible list whenever needed. The definitive indication is always the presence of the field “Who referred you to this position?” in the job opening submission form.
